SiteTailor is built on a privacy-first foundation: all CSS customizations, element selections, sticky notes, and theme overrides are processed locally in your browser and never transmitted to developer-operated servers.

Core Privacy Pledge

SiteTailor does not collect, track, or sell your browsing activity. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising networks. Your customized styles and annotations remain entirely under your personal control.

1. Information Processed & Stored Locally

SiteTailor processes the following information entirely inside your browser client to deliver visual styling and annotation capabilities:

Hostnames & Scopes: The exact domain name (e.g., example.com) or URL path to which you attach a customization rule.
CSS Rules: Selectors (e.g., .btn-primary) and the associated CSS properties you choose to modify (e.g., font size, color, margin, padding, border).
In-Page Annotations: Text notes and coordinates of sticky notes or visual drawings you create on specific pages.
Theme Preferences: Your site-specific or global theme choices (Original, Dark, or Light).
State & Configuration: Global and per-site enable/disable toggles, component palette presets, and backup archives.

2. Storage Architecture & Cloud Synchronization

All data is saved utilizing Chrome's native extension storage APIs:

Chrome Sync Storage (chrome.storage.sync): If you are signed in to a Google Chrome profile, Chrome synchronizes your custom rules across your devices through your Google Account under Google's standard encryption and privacy policies.
Local Fallback Storage (chrome.storage.local): If sync storage reaches quota limits or sync is disabled in your browser, data is automatically stored locally on your device.
Zero Developer Servers: SiteTailor does not maintain external databases or telemetry servers to store your browsing data or customization rules.

3. Permissions & Justification

SiteTailor adheres strictly to the Principle of Least Privilege. Every requested permission serves a direct, essential user function:

Permission	Justification / Technical Purpose
`storage`	Enables persisting your CSS rules, theme overrides, annotations, and configuration preferences across browser sessions.
`activeTab`	Allows the visual inspector and editor to interact with the single web page tab that you actively choose to customize.
`scripting`	Allows injection of the visual editor interface, style sheets, and annotation canvas into the active tab upon explicit user activation.
Optional Host Permissions (`http:///`, `https:///`)	Enables instant re-application of your saved personal CSS rules early during page load (document start), preventing visual flash. Requested only on-demand when authorized by the user.

4. Licensing & Payments

SiteTailor offers optional premium features via ExtensionPay (extpay.js), a third-party merchant service powered by Stripe.

Payments and subscription billing are processed directly on Stripe's secure infrastructure.
SiteTailor does not collect, process, or store payment card details, bank account numbers, or billing addresses.
ExtensionPay verifies license status using an anonymized user identifier. It does not track, receive, or inspect your browsing history or customized websites.

5. User Data Rights & Data Portability

You retain complete ownership and control over all data created with SiteTailor:

Inspect & Edit: You can view and edit all active rules directly in the extension popup or visual editor panel.
Export & Backup: You can export per-site or complete multi-site backups at any time as clean, portable JSON files.
Deletion: You can clear rules for an individual site or clear all extension storage with a single click. Uninstalling the extension permanently removes all stored data from Chrome.

6. Children's Privacy

SiteTailor is a general-purpose productivity developer tool and does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13.

7. Policy Updates

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the changes will be reflected in this document with a revised "Last Updated" timestamp. Material changes will be noted in the extension changelog.
